Excerpt: Offer acceptance rate shows whether candidates are saying yes to your offers and can reveal issues with compensation, speed, role clarity, and candidate experience.

Offer acceptance rate is the percentage of extended job offers that candidates accept during a defined period.

A team can do everything else well and still lose hires at the final step. Offer acceptance rate connects the early promise of the process to the final candidate decision.

## What to Distinguish

Offer acceptance rate = accepted offers ÷ extended offers × 100 for a defined cohort. Record whether the measure uses written offers, verbal offers or both, and how pending, expired or employer-withdrawn offers are handled.

## A Practical Example

**Illustrative example:** A completed cohort contains 20 extended offers: 16 accepted and four declined, with none pending or withdrawn by the employer. Acceptance is 16 ÷ 20 × 100 = 80%. This is a calculation example, not a target or industry benchmark.

## What to Measure

Use explicit definitions for your reporting. The following are practical measurement choices, not universal benchmarks or claimed product results.

| Measure | Definition | Interpretation |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Offer acceptance | Accepted offers ÷ extended offers in the chosen cohort × 100. | Report pending offers separately; do not compare a mature cohort with one still awaiting decisions. |
| Time from final interview to offer | Offer extension timestamp minus final interview timestamp. | Review approval and compensation delays separately from candidate decision time. |

## How to Apply It

Confirm role expectations and compensation range before the final stage, then record offer outcomes and candidate-provided reasons. Track verbal declines separately if your headline metric counts written offers only.

## Common Mistakes

- Mixing written and verbal offers without stating the counting rule.
- Treating every decline as a compensation problem.
- Not recording reasons candidates decline.
- Waiting until offer stage to learn candidate expectations.

## Where Skill Society Fits

Skill Society supports earlier screening and candidate evidence review. Offer acceptance also depends on compensation, role expectations, timing and candidate choice; it is not a product-guaranteed outcome.
